Will I be training with both of you?
Yes and no. If you sign up with us as an individual you can chose to be trained by either Megan or Sam, they will then be your assigned trainer. If you have a Duo Session with a friend, family or partner you can opt for both of us to train the session. This also applies for small groups and classes such as our Bootcamp at Willen Lake, Milton Keynes.
Do you get a meal plan?
When you sign up with us you get a downloadable PDF 'Healthy Eating Guide' which follows the UK Standards of eating healthy in a more generalised state (also downloadable for free on this website). If you wish for a more tailored advice plan this will come at an additional cost which we'd be happy to discuss.
Will the training hurt?
When it comes to fitness you have to overload the body, meaning it has to do things outside of it's comfort zone in order to do better and progress. But don't worry, all of our sessions are designed specifically for you and based on fitness tests which we carry out at the beginning. We will always start off at a level you are comfortable with and from which you can progress. So you may ache, you may be sore after your sessions but this is all part of the process of change.
Where do you train?
We travel to you! We have a great selection of great equipment at the ready to suit your needs. We're also developing an online training programme which means that if you're already a member at a gym you can be trained through an app, quick and easy.
What would I be doing in a session?
We'll always start with a warm up, some mobilisation and brief stretching. And we'll always end with a cool down and some more thorough stretching. The middle part of the session is completely down to your goals, this can include resistance training (using weights mostly), aerobic training, circuits and many more. Your timetable will be completely tailored to you and don't worry we won't have to do any exercises that you absolutely hate. We want our sessions to be fun, energetic and have you feeling epic afterwards.
Does every session need to be with you?
They can if you wish, but at the same time we want to give you the knowledge you need to be able to do your own workouts as well. If you do decide to workout by yourself we will give you a detailed programme sheet to keep you on top of your game. Eventually it'll all become second nature, and that's when lasting changes happen.
You mentioned an app, can you tell me more?
Yes, this is something we are very excited about. We have an app which is optional to use when beginning training with us, but it does allow you to have a clear view on your journey. Through it you get your very own account where we can send you tailored workouts, mark meetings and sessions in your calendar and track your progress. It comes at no extra cost to you but means you get your whole fitness experience in one easy to access place.
But it's far more expensive than joining a gym
This is true. And the gym is a fantastic place if you know what exercises and workouts to do to reach your goal, we can't argue with this one bit. But for a lot of people and for many different reasons, they tend to lack any progression or lack motivation. Or even do training which will have a negative effect on the body (Just like Sam in his university years! Read 'Our Story' for more). This is where a Personal Trainer can help, they provide guidance, knowledge and support. This means that after it all, you can carry on the good work in a gym by yourself and do an incredible job of it too.
Can I just do the exercise and not the diet?
You might of heard this before: "you can't out-train a bad diet" and sadly it's completely true. The ratio of contributions to a healthy body is 70% diet and 30% exercise (which can surprise some!) but before we carry on, let's banish the word diet. What we offer is more of a lifestyle change, we don't want you feeling hungry and wanting to pounce on every cake in sight, that's not a healthy relationship with food. We want you to enjoy your meals, be able to cheat once a week and not feel like you're on a diet at all. See what we mean in our free Healthy Eating Guide. There does need to be some conscience effort to improve your nutrition if you want to achieve your goals, promise us that and we won't let you down.
Can I just have a few sessions?
Of course, but bare in mind that results come with both commitment and time. We recommend at least one session a week for 3 months in order to reach most goals (you can see results in as little as 6 weeks). But we understand about other commitments and expense issues, and we're more than happy to come up with a solution that works for you.
Will training with weights make me look bulky and thick?
It can and it can't, but it completely depends on whether you want it to or not. For women this is a big fear, but let me assure you it is very difficult to pack on muscle like men do, women simply don't have the hormones for it. Instead, muscle tends to make women look leaner, more firm and allows you to burn more calories at rest. Just for an example, Megan does heavy weight training for one hour 5 days a week (sometimes 6!) and she has never considered herself bulky or thick. It also all depends on diet and rest, once these areas are controlled in a routine you shouln't need to worry.
How many times do I need to train?
We are advised to do 30 - 40 minutes of exercises 5 - 6 days a week according to National guidelines, but we know all to well how hard that is to fit into a busy lifestyle. That being said, the more effort you put in, the more results you'll get out. So as a meet-in-the-middle we've found that training 2 - 3 times a week can gain you some noticeable changes for most, and so we'd always advise to start with this number initially.
What times are you available?
For now we are available weekdays from 6am-8am and 6pm-10pm due to other commitments. Weekends we are available from 10am-4pm. We understand this is a bit tricky for some but hopefully we can work around these times and make sure you get the best out of your sessions.
